Clutter

The top study is based off optical color and the bottom is pointillism. Optical color is a style of mixing and applying paint while pointillism is where you put colors next to others so when the observer steps back the colors mix and create a seemingly completed artwork.

Final Day study

It started as a gray scale painting that was then painted with color. The final steps were to create colors by layers of glazing. The layers were transparent enough to create new mixtures.

Day studies

the goal was to learn values and then do values in one color only making tints and shades to make the darks and lights of the piece. I decided to do basic items with odd shapes to try and mater difficult angles.

Deveney

The assignment was to select an artist you wished to use as inspiration, I picked my own palette and i couldn't decide on one artist to model my art after. I decided to go with a realist and a abstract painter. I liked their individual style and decided to make my own mark. The main idea was to take a subject and paint them in a way that represented them as a person. I selected two popular poses of my friend, Deveney. I am satisfied with the way it turned out and all the different values are to my taste, however I would like to go back in and sharpen certain aspects.

Mirror Reflection

I would have to say that I personally am not into self portraits because they either come out looking like someone else or they are just not what I expected.

Edge

When The word edge comes to mind I think of being on edge, on your toes. When people are on edge they can become antsy or suffer from anxiety which usually leads to someway of an outlet. In Johnny's case he smokes the edge off.
